Add a Starkey Trunk Release Button to your 2005-2009 Mustang!

Would you want a trunk release button in your 2005-2009 Mustang, even though it wasn't available as an option? Starkey Products can help you with that, with their Trunk Release Button Kit!

Back in 1980, Ford started putting trunk release buttons in the glove boxes of the Mustang and most owners loved the convenience of not having to get out of the car or use the key to open the trunk. Fast forward 25 years and, in 2005, the remote keyless entry had become immensely popular, and it included a button to pop the trunk, eliminating the need for the trunk release button.

Or so Ford thought.

Starkey Trunk ReleaseMany owners still desired the hardwired trunk release button in their Mustang and still found that button far more convenient than the remote keyless entry that was now standard with every new Mustang.

To fix Ford's oversight, Starkey Products stepped up and released their Trunk Release Button Kit for 2005-2009 Mustangs, which gave those owners the convenience they desired in an easy to install package. In this video, Bill demonstrates just how easy this kit is to install in a 2005 Mustang that came in for work at CJ Pony Service.

The Starkey Products Trunk Release Button installs in the center console, taking the place of the emergency brake access cover. The installation only takes a Phillips head screw driver, a small pick and wire strippers, and can be completed in just 20 minutes or so, making this an easy oversight to correct.

To install, the trunk release button itself just pops into place, then a few panels need to be removed to run the wiring, which connects via the provided wire taps. Reinstall the panels after wire tying the new wires with the provided ties, and installation is complete. It really is that easy and, as always, Bill walks you through each step in the video.

So, if you're one of the many customers who didn't like that Ford chose to remove the trunk release button from the Mustang and have been looking for a simple fix, this Starkey Products button is exactly what you're after.
