My new 2015 Mustang GT!

If you are reading this and have ever seen any of our videos, you probably know who I am. My name is Bill, and I host all the videos here at CJ Pony Parts. It’s no secret that I am a huge Mustang fan. I mean, I took something that started as a hobby and turned it into a career.

Over the years, I have owned over 40 different Mustangs, from classics to Cobras to SVOs and pretty much everything in between. When I had the privilege of attending the debut of the 2015 Mustang last December in Dearborn, I knew right then and there what the next Mustang in my garage was going to be.

After an epic mid-summer, cross country road trip in my trusty 2011 Mustang GT, it was time to put it back to stock and plan for the next chapter. On October 1st, I called my buddy, Rob at Fred Beans Ford of Boyertown, and told him what I wanted: A 2015 Mustang GT in Deep Impact Blue with a Performance Package, navigation, and Recaro seats.

Of all the Mustangs I have owned, this was the first one I bought brand new and ordered exactly how I wanted it. I knew the wait would be long, but somehow Rob worked his magic and got my order bumped to VIP status and, less than 8 weeks later, I received a text message from Rob with a picture of my Deep Impact Blue pony sitting on a transport in front of the dealer. Less than 24 hours later, I was driving my new pride and joy home.

I won’t bore you with a review on the 2015 Mustang itself. If you haven’t already, go see one in person. Drive it, if possible. While opinions vary, I feel this is the best Mustang yet and love everything about it. While Ford did a great job with the car, being who I am and doing what I do, there is no chance at all that this car will be staying even remotely stock. I have had plenty of input into the other CJ project cars, but this one will be all me. For those that ask my opinion of what parts I like best on the 2015...well, follow this build and you will find out!

I can’t say the exact order that I plan on adding parts, but I have a pretty good idea what I want. While 435 horsepower from the factory is more than adequate for me, it is simply a starting point. Forced induction is a definite. Right now, my eye is on the Roush/Ford Racing R2300TVS. With a proper tune and supporting hardware, that should be good for north of 600 horsepower at the wheels.

Yeah, that will work.

Along with the blower, I am currently thinking about some Kooks Long Tube Headers, matched with a Ford Racing exhaust with black tips...gotta have the sound to back up the power!

Suspension-wise, I have always wanted to go with an air system. After installing it on our 50/Thirty project, I knew my next build would be on air. I have been looking into the Air Lift Performance Digital Kit, and I think it would be perfect for my GT. It has great ride height when driving, allows it to be laid out when parked, and the ability to raise it if need be, which sounds perfect for a car I plan to drive all over the place in various conditions.

The interior of Bill's new 2015 MustangI love the stock look of the GT, but that doesn’t mean a few small changes wouldn’t hurt. At the SEMA show, Classic Design Concepts showed me their Outlaw kit, which is subtle, yet aggressive at the same time. This one made the list for sure, although the 3dCarbon kit is pretty sweet as well, so this is still open for debate.

And, of course, the last major visual change will be wheels and, to be honest, right now, I am completely up in the air on which direction to go. I loved the Niche Milans on my 2011, and they looked killer on our black GT project car, but it may be time for something new. Rovos, CDC, TSW and Velgen all currently have wheels that I think would look perfect on the car, making this a really tough decision. The only thing I have chosen is color; whichever wheel I end up with will be getting a custom powdercoat that you will just have to wait and see.

I am really looking forward to this build and plan to have the car out at several events next year. If you haven’t already, make sure you are subscribed to our YouTube channel so you can follow along with mine and the other 2015 builds we are doing. And if you see me at a show, come say hi and check out the car!

Editor's Note: This is the first of a series we'll be putting together chronicling Bill's build. As he adds upgrades, you're going to want to check back here to see the latest, including how his changes affect performance and how awesome it's looking.
