After many guesses at how long the "Coyote Countdown" engine swap might take, the guys at Kurgan Motorsports completed the installation of a Ford Racing “Coyote” 5.0-liter V8 crate engine in their partially restored 1993 Mustang in four hours and fifty-two minutes at the Carlisle Ford Nationals on Saturday, June 4.
According to StangTV, the Kurgan Motorsports team actually tried to work at an easy pace, so the contest wouldn't be over too quickly. They only ran into one problem, with the transmission, which slowed them down for about 30 minutes. After the engine swap was completed, the car was taken to the Carlisle Burnout Pit where the new "Coyote" 5.0 V8 engine proved to be quite powerful and performed several burnouts for the crowd. Many of the parts for the Mustang restoration were donated by CJ Pony Parts and vendors such as Scott Drake, TMI Products, SSBC Brakes and Auto Custom Carpets. Take a look at the photos below to see many of these products, and the engine swap!
