When restoring a classic Mustang, you're going to want the highest quality parts, at the most reasonable prices so your Mustang looks awesome, but you're also not bankrupt at the end of the process. When it comes to a glove box door for a 1965-1966 Mustang, there's really only two choices: A cheaper standard reproduction or the higher quality, and only slightly more expensive glove box door from Scott Drake.

Thanks to Scott Drake's attention to detail and quality, their Glove Box Door for 1965-1966 Mustangs features many noticeable elements that separate it from the standard reproductions and can make your Mustang look like you truly paid attention to the details with your upgrades. Here's just a few of the elements that set it apart:

  • Wood Grain: Scott Drake's glove box door uses the factory correct wood grain, exactly what was used on the originals. It includes the proper texture, and the wood grain has a metal backing, versus the vinyl applique on the standard reproductions. The reproductions also don't include any texture and may come with blemishes in the applique, like our example product did.
  • Chrome Finish: The standard reproduction glove box door includes a much lower quality chrome, and the example we feature in the video even includes some pitting on the chrome. It's also finished unevenly. The Scott Drake part uses a high quality chrome, with an even finish, making it much brighter and more attractive.
  • Fit & Finish: At the point where the wood grain meets the chrome edges, Scott Drake has nice, tight corners, with the metal backing invisible. However, the standard reproduction's vinyl applique doesn't quite reach the chrome, so there's some visibility to the black backing underneath. The vinyl applique also didn't line up around the emblem holes, further evidencing the lower quality of the part.

While the standard reproduction is $11 cheaper than the Scott Drake part, it's easy to justify the additional expense, especially when you see how much nicer of a part you're getting. Plus, Scott Drake also offers a 1965-1966 Wood Grain Instrument Bezel featuring the same attention to detail, so you can have a perfect match on your dash!

So, if you're in the market for a Glove Box Door for your 1965-1966 Mustang, make sure Scott Drake is the only manufacturer on your list!
