A few weeks ago, we mentioned that we added a 93 octane tune to Gotta Have It Street right before our last visit to Cecil County Dragway, which netted us 0.4 of a second and 3 mph on the track that weekend. Until late last week, we hadn't been to the dyno to found out how much those few changes boosted the engine's peak power numbers.
Our first run on the dyno, made almost a month ago when the car was completely stock, was at In Tune Autoworks and showed that Gotta Have It Street made 335 horsepower and 307 ft/lb of torque.
Our changes only involved the addition of 93 octane fuel, an SCT XCAL3 tuner, and a base tune for 93 octane Mustangs. While the changes were very simple, it's easy to see how big of a difference they made. Using 93 octane allowed the tune to safely advance the timing, while also raising the shift points. Instead of shifting at 6,400 RPMs, Gotta Have It Street now shifts at 6,800 RPMs, giving us much more peak power.
Over the next few weeks, the additional power will come in handy! This weekend, Rich and Rick will be driving Gotta Have It Race and Gotta Have It Street in the Roush Super Stang class at the NMRA event in Milan, Michigan. Then, from June 19-21, Bill will be driving Gotta Have It Street in the CJ Pony Parts Rally DIXIE 2012! We hope to see you at one of these events, but if you can't make it, keep checking our blog for updates!
