Want shorter shifts? Upgrade to a Barton shifter!

Posted on 13. Apr, 2012 by in News, Videos

One of the hottest upgrades for 2005-2013 Mustangs is a Barton Industries shifter, and it’s pretty obvious why–much shorter shifts and a well built product.

Here’s just a few of the benefits of Barton shifters over the stock Mustang shifter:

  • 35%-40% throw reduction
  • Firmer centering springs for a perfect 2nd-3rd gear shift (you’ll never miss 3rd gear again!)
  • Harder durometer polyurethane bushings to eliminate the mushy deflection
  • Made in the USA with the highest quality billet aluminum and stainless steel
  • Easy installation (see the video above)

Read a few comments from Mustang owners who have installed a Barton shifter:

“I got my Barton short throw shifter installed today. It took about 35 minutes and was pretty easy. The shifter is AWESOME! This thing looks like it was designed for a space shuttle. I hated covering it up with the shift boot. It’s not the cheapest shifter on the market, but after seeing the build quality I can see why. The throws are short and precise. It totally changes the whole driving experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this shifter!” – Tim (Tim 5.0), from Allfordmustangs.com (11/10/2010)

It’s sweet. Nice short throws with a click into gear, but still very smooth–really hard to describe. Most shifters I have used have been very notchy this shifter seems to be the best of both worlds. I’m very picky when it comes to noise. This shifter is silent; I haven’t noticed any increase in noise at all over the stock shifter. I’m using the flat stick and black ball and it looks perfect. My 2nd gear issue has pretty much disappeared. It still takes more effort than the rest of the gears but at least I’m not fighting it anymore. The 2-3 shift is effortless. — Brett (brett82), from SVTPerformance.com (3/27/12)

No, I do not. MGW shifters are the best IMO. Completely transformed my 2012 GT.
