2013 Mustang, 2015 Mustang News Roundup

At the end of a crazy weather week for us on the East Coast, we thought we'd update everyone on the latest rumors and news regarding the 2013 Mustang and the 2015 Mustang.

2013 Mustang

We don't have a lot of big news here on the standard coupe and convertible, just that the 2013 is expected to be available for ordering in December, 2011. The rumor is that you can head to your neighborhood Ford dealership on December 5, 2011 and place an order, with production beginning on or around February 27, 2012. The 2013 Mustang is still set to be unveiled at the LA Auto Show in November.

Meanwhile, the 2013 Boss 302 Mustang is expected to get several changes that drivers have been clamoring for. On the list for the 2013 Boss 302, we'll see several new colors, Ford's SYNC system, HID lighting out front, and a 4.2" LCD message center that includes MyColor. It's also getting a few cosmetic updates to keep pace with the regular 2013's refresh.

2015 Mustang

As we've been saying, the next generation Mustang is expected to be unveiled as a 2015 model, and will be a complete top-to-bottom redesign. As part of this, the latest rumors have the new model receiving a brand-new eight speed automatic transmission. While this announcement is likely partially designed to keep pace with Chrysler's new eight speed that will be in many of their cars, the 2015 Mustang will surely benefit with increased fuel economy and refinement. Imagine how many MPGs an EcoBoost four cylinder would get with an eight speed....

Finally, at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford is going to be showing off the all-new Evos concept vehicle, which many are speculating might contain some clues as to what the new 2015 may look like. As we posted a few weeks ago, MotorTrend supplied an artist's rendering of what they think the new Pony Car might look like, which we felt looked way too similar to the current model. This concept car definitely deviates from the current design, and might provide a more realistic idea of what Ford might be planning for 2015. While the video above showcases far more advanced technology and capability than the new Mustang will likely have, we invite you to take a look at this promotional video for the Evos concept and let us know what you think, especially if even some of that were part of the new Mustang!
